There is a house in the middle of the highway. The electricity and water have
been cut off. Traffic rushes around it as if it was a mountain too obstinate to dynamite or tunnel through. The authorities have been unable to persuade,
threaten or entice relocation, and the occupants are an elderly couple who will eventually die. This is not the only house, not the only owners willing to take a stand in a country where rebellion is dangerous, where compliance is
the norm. Eventually the house will be destroyed, nothing left, the hammer will pound flat the stubborn nail.

Thank you both! Do google "nail house, images". It is quite incredible.
After I posted it, I started thinking that I should have written it through
someone's point of view. I can't imagine the courage this kind of holdout takes.

Oh, my word! I just googled nail houses, as you suggested. As Drew said - astonishing. I thought your drabble was stretching credibility, but the pictures show not. Wow!

There must be a million stories in those pictures! Yes, they do resemble medieval
castles, Drew! 'Glad you both checked it out. Feel free to write about them.
