That's what they called the homeless woman, perhaps because she was Asian. They called her refuge, a cocoon. Every night she would stack six milk crates together with bungee cords in the wooden bus shelter. Then she would layer her plastic bags and blankets to create a bed and covered herself with a tarp.
When the shelter was torn down, she moved to a back doorway in the alley nearby. Then came the malicious small fires. The building owner decided to install a roll down metal gate.
In a city of back alleys and brick walls, there are other sanctuaries.
