The Eternal Night #116

by

"It'll take several hours to get it done and let the film dry, so how about you come back in the morning and you can pick it up?" Eddie said. He'd never been this nice or this accomodating. The mystique of Hollywood does strange things to people.

"Okay, Eddie. Thanks a lot." I said.

Eddie shook Mason's hand again.

I told Ari goodbye. "The offer of free drinks at my cafe is still good, Ari. Anytime."

He nodded, "Maybe I'll drop in one day, Randolph. See ya."

Mason and I left and had dinner and then I took him home...

That musta bin plenty enough excitement for Brick. Thanks for the Jakefest, Christopher. I’m very fond of Ari - he’s a real brick!

PS. Hope you don’t mind my smartarsed comments. I’m just trying to show that I’m actually engaged with the story...

No, not at all. I enjoy them. And thanks.

By the way, I even researched about film development. I had no idea you had to let it hang there to dry for several hours. In movies they make it look like the whole process only takes a few minutes.

So, I'm still learning new things writing these stories.

When I was young my eldest brother was into photography and film and he put blackout paper over his bedroom window so he could process film. I was his junior, acting, unpaid apprentice so I learnt a fair bit about photography... and I learnt a lot about film in the ad business. The film editors are such real stars and more than once I have been nonplussed by the effects of them snipping out a couple of frames here and there... and of course the work of the lighting cameramen. But being at a film shoot is possibly one of the most boring ways to spend a day or so!

Thanks, Jamie. I wanted to make him a snotty actor to start with and then have him change as the story went. The thing I don't get is why everyone is so distrustful of Roxie!
