Hey, remember that time...

...you poured water in the teacher's briefcase, which contained the copies of the test he was going to give us that morning?

...we dressed in drag so we could sneak into the girls' locker room in the gym and watch them shower?

...we took all four tires off the Principal's car and rolled them into the teachers' lounge?

...you brought in a pair of bolt cutters and cut the padlock off of every locker in the school?

...we sat around reminiscing about the crazy stuff we did when we were supposed to be getting an education?

Most of this is true. The tire thing was proposed and planned but we never got to pull it off. And it wasn't every padlock in school (just select ones).

    So, bit of artistic license.

Nothing wrong with artistic licence, Christopher.... my drabbles are sometimes peppered with porkies! (porky pies are Cockney rhyming-slang for lies)

    Thanks, Neville.

This is off topic, but I sent Drew another message through Goodreads, which is the only way I know how to communicate with him. But the last two messages I sent there went unanswered. I also sent Jeff an email. I got his address on Facebook. He hasn't posted there since October of last year. I'll let you know if I hear from either of them. Also, the drabble of the day for me was one of your Fedelta drabbles. Hint hint!

Update - Jeff responded to my email. He's okay but has had some issues that kept him away. But he did say he was coming back at some point.

Now if I can only track down Drew...

Thanks for that Christopher. I just hope Drew’s not been struck down by Covid. His contribution to Drablr has been pivotal imho.... and he’s a laugh too! Crossing fingers he’s safe and he’ll pop back again soon. 🤞

Re Fedeltà... hint taken. Since I don’t seem to be very productive myself right now I think it might provide me some direction. 🤞

Great! Yeah, I just wish Drew would let us know he's okay, even if he doesn't feel like drabbling (is that a word?).

‘Drabbling’ is certainly a word I use... so yes it is!

Just sent Drew a message too.

Maybe he'll realized how much he's missed and come back.

I don’t know how to contact Drew, otherwise I’d contact him too. The third of the writers of the apocalypse... waiting for the return of the fourth.

It's through Goodreads, which he has linked in his bio. But he hasn't been there in a long time either so he probably hasn't seen those messages.

Thanks for that, Christopher... but oh dear, I sincerely hope that he’s OK.

    Yeah, me too.

Christopher, I have signed up to Goodreads and had enormous difficulty/failed to find Drew using his real name, his Drablr name and his @jehode handle. However, I’ve come across someone with the delightful Fawlty Towers derived ‘a gin and orange, a lemon squash and a scotch and water, please!’. I’ve asked to befriend on the assumption that it resonates with me and asked him to return to Drablr.com. Is this him, or is there some other way to get a message to him? Thanks.

Yeah, that's Drew. Lisa Williams is on there too under her own name. I don't know of any other way of contacting Drew. He is a published author, though, so we might do a Google search and see if we can find an email associated with him. I'll try that when I get a chance. I used to follow him on twitter, through a mutual friend, and that's how I found out about Drablr, but he deleted his Twitter account a few years back.

Try looking for him as Andrew Stockton...

Well, I found a website called urhi.co.uk and Drew posted a story there on June 1st, so apparently he's okay. There's just no way to send him a message other than Goodreads that I've been able to find and he hasn't responded to the last several messages I sent there.

I did see a picture of him, though.

I'm afraid that's the extent of my skills as a detective. Maybe we need to call in Jake Randolph.

Maybe we do, Christopher... and soon!

I’ve seen a photo of Drew too; he looks a chilled guy. I have read a story of his under his given name, Andrew Stockton and will try again. I did manage to get a message through to Lisa and she did return relatively recently, albeit briefly, and hopefully will do so again. These great Drablrs, we need them back, if only to remind them how good they are. I am so, so relieved and glad that D.M. Has returned after 5 years. I think that the loss of his sheepdog around the time he stopped must have hit him really hard.

Just been playing amateur Sherlock myself. I’ve found one of Drew’s stories which he published on Drablr a couple of years ago, Mrs Ely’s Travesty, under his other name Andrew Stockton, in a collection called Dark Tales, Volume 16, but I can’t read the actual short story there (without buying the book) to see if he’s undrabblified it. Or maybe more likely he drabblified it from the story.

Indeed! I did not realize D.M. had been away that long. Man, time files, doesn't it? I also didn't realize that on June 6th I had been here for 6 years.

By the way, Neville, I'll be ready to start posting the new Jake story in a week or two. Should I do a quick drabble before then that gives Jake's bio, since I tend to bounce around his timeline so much? This one takes place during the time he had quit being a detective, so I was thinking about doing a standalone drabble that sort of ordered his timeline. Do you think that's a good idea?

  • avatar

Neville Hunt almost 3 years ago

I think that’s a terrific idea, Christopher. It will allow those (poor) people not familiar with Jake to get drawn in. I can’t wait!🥵

  • avatar

    Christopher almost 3 years ago

Okay, I'll do that. I've had a burst of creativity the last few days and really got cracking on the story. I wasn't sure what it was going to be called, and I couldn't start posting it until I chose the name but I finally got it, "The Eternal Night."
