To quote Paul Simon:

"I hung one more year on the line."

Today is my 47th birthday. I spent yesterday with my family, got a lot of great presents, and had a wonderful time.

But yesterday was not my birthday, it was just the most convenient day for the whole family to gather together.

So today is the quiet day, the day for me to sit back and ruminate on a life that was lived to the best of my ability. It hasn't been perfect. It hasn't been easy.

But, you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way.

Well Happy 47th Birthday Christopher! I remember 47.... just!

Life is what you get. It’s a sentence! But you don’t want time off for good behaviour, do you? So don’t be too safe along the way. Make some noise! Give it all you’ve got. Enjoy it!

Thanks, Neville. I've had a neck injury I've been dealing with the past week or two, so I'll take a raincheck on the birthday hell-raising! It's about all I can muster to turn my head sideways!

Christopher, Glad you were able to spend some time with your family. Hope the ruminations had some colour in them. If you see a ghost out of the corner of your eye tell it to play fair and come where you can see it so you won't strain your neck. 🐝

Thanks, Jamie. Yeah, a good time was had by all. But I'm inching ever closer to the big 5-0 and then I know I'm going to have to grow up and I'm just not ready!

Worry not, Christopher, I am proof positive that there is neither a need or possibility of growing up post 50 years of age! It’s just a number, innit!

Yeah, maybe I'll wait until I'm 60 to grow up. That'll give me 13 more years of irresponsibility!

Belated happy birthday Christopher. Never grow up, mate - I'm still 20 in my head. I've been 16 for as long as I can remember, but a few years ago I decided I felt more like 20 so 20 I've stayed. I'm like a good whisky, maturing very slowly.
