"Then it'll just be us?" Harrigan asked.
"Well," I said, "You, me, Max, his friend Pete Nelson, and Eddie and Ari."
"I guess that will have to do," he said.
"You know, Jim, this is my fault."
Harrigan said, "No it isn't, Jake. It's Dolan's and Gallagher's fault. All of this is because of a beef between those two idiots."
I shook my head, "No, my arrogance did this. I think I can just rattle anyone's cage, smack people around, do whatever the hell I want and there'll be no consequences. And now a little girl's life is in jeopardy."

I decided to make this one the one where Jake temporarily gives up being a detective. It seemed like the right story for that, and I hadn't told that story yet.
