"I can't tell you what's going on. I promised I wouldn't. It's too dangerous," she said through her tears.
Harrigan stepped in, "Miss Bennett, I'm afraid you don't have a choice. This is no longer a matter of a little girl looking for her father. People have been murdered. It's a police matter now."
She looked at me with tears in her eyes. I wiped them away and said, "It's out of my hands now, unfortunately."
"Tell us what's going on, Miss Bennett."
"Max...," she said, "...Max is my brother."
Okay, I have to admit I didn't see that coming...

I didn't see it coming either. This was another one of those times writing these stories where I typed something I was not thinking. It's actually kinda scary when that happens, and it happens a lot writing these Jake stories.

And neither did I... and I think it’s a great twist. It gives a whole new set of ways the story could go. Bravo! This story seems to be taking over its writer. How exciting....

Thanks for reading, Neville. I would've thought Drew would be back by now but I guess these are for your eyes only, Mr. Hunt.

It’s a very good read, Christopher, but I am sure that in time I won’t be the only reader. I too hope Drew will come back soon, but I understand how one’s productivity has been hit recently with this CV disruption and uncertainty, looking at my own limited output. I’ve just come back from a holiday in SW England which was good, so maybe I can re-find my drabble mojo! 🤞
