The Littlest Client #12

by

As I slid into the cab and told the driver where I wanted to go I noticed someone had left the morning paper on the seat. And since I hate small talk with cabbies I picked it up and pretended to be reading it.

The headline for February 27, 1951 was "22nd Amendment Ratified By States," and the article said that the amendment passed by Congress on March 21, 1947, which limited a US president to two four-year terms, had now been ratified by the states.

I skimmed over the rest of the paper until we reached the precinct...

It's getting harder and harder to get the time period into these stories without actually coming out and saying it. But I figured it out one more time, anyway.

Oh, and that really happened on that day, actually.

I assumed it would be the exact date, Christopher. You have a reputation for tying in historical facts/events accurately.

I try to. If you looked at my Google search history it's full of searches for "vintage Los Angeles street maps" and "cars from the 1950s" and "LAPD in the 50s."

I strive for accuracy. Even when I'm talking about going from one place in Los Angeles to another I map it to see how long the journey is. I only take poetic license when I have to.

    Thoroughness! That’s admirable, Christopher.
