I still think about you from time to time..
When the sun creeps in through the half open blinds, leaving symmetrical shadows painted across the carpet and I think about you sitting there and studying them until the sun gets bored and moves on and the shadows disappear...
When I hear laughter from a nearby table in a restaurant and think about you laughing and bringing your hand up to your mouth because you erroneously thought your smile wasn't beautiful...
When I smell the fragrant flowers and think of your perfume...
Yeah, I still think about you...from time to time...

This would probably be best categorized as partially true, as it's more the embodiment of all those women who got away, an amalgamation, if you will.

This is really lovely, and sad, Christopher. Beautiful. I love the concept of the sun getting bored... and what is it that makes beautiful women fail to see themselves through the eyes of others? I was bewitched by a girl before I met Mrs H (which is a helluva long time ago!) whose nose had the slightest of bumps on it. It was charming... her character no less, but she had a nose job and lost it all. Sad!

Thanks, Neville. I was beginning to think I was never going to write anything again.
Yeah, if women only knew that the things they hate most about themselves are some of the things men like the most in them they wouldn't be so quick to want to change things.

Indeed, Christopher. Even now, Mrs H (to whom I’ve been exceedingly happily married for 49 years today) doesn’t see her own loveliness. Whatever it is she sees, it certainly isn’t what I do... but I guess modesty is a fine thing in itself, although it’s not something I personally have much of!😊. And as for you, Christopher, please don’t allow yourself one doubt about your writing. This drabble shows what a terrific writer you are! (Why not borrow a bit of my lack of modesty? 😁)

Can see the shadows disappearing and caught a glimpse of her face. :) Very glad you've not stopped writing Christopher. :-))))

Lovely work, Christopher. I second Neville, steal some modesty, that was brilliant!

Thanks, everyone. I appreciate the support. I've just been in a slump lately writing-wise. I guess it's everything going on in the world.

'Yeah, I can relate to that. Kind of hard to block things out right now, what with everything going on.
