Tiki Moon #351

Not exactly the climax I was hoping for, but I obliged her. We went to the same diner in Pacific Palisades I had eaten at the night I witnessed Morty and Nick paying off Stan North.

Then Scarlett said, "Take me home, baby."

I headed for her apartment, but with a detour to the Sunset Strip. I pulled up outside of Novelties Unlimited and went in, coming out a few minutes later with a box.

"What is this?" she asked.

"Open it."

She opened the lid.

"A French maid's outfit!" she said laughing.

I smiled and drove away.

Well, there it is. What was supposed to be a short story turned into the longest Jake Randolph tale I've ever done. I guess everyone remembers the part about the French maid's outfit. This was a completely different ending than what I had planned and I added that in at the end.

Thanks for reading. And like James Bond...

    Jake Randolph will return...

Thanks very much Christopher. This has been another great sidecar ride with Jake. Glad he survived, but I always suspected he would, for some reason I can’t put my finger on. Great storyline, great storytelling with not a little humour. I am now bereft. What will I do at breakfast now. Let’s hope you find something soon to put on my plate! Great stuff! πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ‘

Over 35,000 words. Together with the other Jake tales that must be well over 100,000... enough for a book. Why not?

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the support. I really enjoy writing these. It's a lot of fun and challenging to write a period piece.

I'm trying to decide if I should go back to the goth thing I was working on it just plow right into the next Randolph tale.

    Or just plow, I meant.

I have the next Jake story idea in my head. I've never written a story about the time he gave up being a private detective in the mid-fifties, after he came into all that money at the end of the first story. The Beatnik story was the thing that got him back in the detective game but I've never focused solely on that period when he wasn't a detective. So that's what the next one will be. He's going to be hired as a consultant for the movie production of "Derek Slade, Private Eye," and all sorts of problems plague the production, so that should be fun.

Yes, that should definitely be a lot of fun. Go for it Christopher! πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

True. They always do take over. I've got to go out of town tomorrow so Saturday I'll see which one I want to start on. I think I might do the goth one, that way it'll give me time to think about the next Jake story. And I've got to research about movie production too so that would give me time to do that.
