Harrigan shook his head, "There are nearly two million people in this city and I seem to spend most of my professional time keeping you from getting killed. Just like in the war."

"Just like in the war?!" I yelled. "How many times did I have to save your ass in the war, huh?"

Harrigan walked over to North's body, "I don't recall one time of you having to come to my rescue, Randolph."

"You have a very selective memory when it comes to the war, Harrigan."

"No, no, no."

We argued all the way back to the construction site...

I love their relationship. I was wondering what it would be like if they were in the police together, but I doubt that would work. Then again it worked in the army so maybe it would. Sorry, just rambling lol....

I love their relationship too. The noir detective usually has either a cop who's out to get him or he has a friend on the force who grudgingly helps him, which is what Harrigan is. But I don't know any of them that have as much history as Harrigan and Jake do.

It would've been interesting to see how they were as partners in the police force. But I liked your idea about a story focusing on their war days. I might try that one day.

Excellent, go for it. It would be a bit heavy on the research I guess, but well worth it.

Yes it would require a good bit of research, but I'd probably have it focus on just one battle or incident they were in, rather than spanning a large swath of the war, and that would minimize the amount of research I had to do. I mentioned they stormed the beach at Normandy on D-Day, so that might be the best thing to focus on. And there's a lot of history about that incident so it should be relatively easy to research. Definitely a candidate for a future story.
