Tiki Moon #280

I told Harrigan I would come around to the precinct soon to see him and he nodded, then I took Scarlett home. We went in her building, up to the elevator and that damned squeaky-voiced operator was in there again!

"Good evening, Miss Wilcox," he said, totally ignoring me.

"Good evening, Fred," she said, smiling.

He closed the scissor gate and we went northward.

"Second floor," he said in that grating voice.

We walked to her apartment and I asked, "Is he always in there?"

"Yeah," she said, grinning, "but I'm not even sure if he really works here!"

I've been working on the story since I posted this an hour ago and I've got a new ending. Not that you'll know because you didn't know what the old one was, but i can't believe the narrative punched me in the face tonight and said, "I'm in charge here." The ending I've had in my head for weeks is going to be different now. But I'm not finished writing it so, who knows? It may change again before I'm done. Sorry, I'm rambling, but that just surprised me.

I love it, Christopher, when the story takes you over and won't take no for an answer. Very much looking forward to the next stage of development. (I won't try to think forward this time, just enjoy it as it comes...)

Yes, Fred is interesting in his own right. Why he could be the subject of a Randolph sub-genre of dancing, because it seems that everyone seeing him gives Fred a stare.

    Good grief, Neville!

Yeah, I'm not sure what the elevator operator's deal is. We may never know. There was no plan other than to make him irritating.
