Tiki Moon #62

by

The first port of call was Honolulu on the island of Hawaii. I'd always wanted to see it. I hoped I'd have enough time to pay my respects at Pearl Harbor. Then it was on to Yokohama, Japan, followed by Kowloon, Hong Kong and finally Manila in the Philippines. It sounded exhausting. People do this for relaxation?

I'd been studying the throng of people on the ship, looking for Ms. Newstead. I'd seen young couples, old couples, singles, kids and crew. But no Ms. Newstead.

If she wasn't here I was going to have quite a swim back to L.A....

I'm not sure if four years after WWII they were conducting cruises to Japan. I did see a late 40's "Oriental" cruise originating from the U.S. west coast in my studies but it didn't tell any destinations. So if they hadn't yet opened back up to tourism we'll have to call that "artistic license."

I'm on the ship trying to spot her. :-)

I salute you for your attention to detail Christopher, but I hadn’t thought about that and I like artistic licence. Can’t stop thinking trouble’s on the poop deck and that very soon Jake’s gonna be in that poop!

    Thanks, Jamie.

Neville, I originally had something that was going to go down on the ship but once I started writing the narrative revolted on me and it went in a completely different direction. That happens every time with these Jake stories. I give them CPR and then they start breathing on their own. Thanks for reading.
