Harrigan was at his desk, talking on the phone and writing something down. His new partner, Kip Wilson, was sitting across from him. Harrigan's last partner, Cal Striker, had recently been exposed as being on the take and almost killed Harrigan and me. So, Harrigan sent Striker to his eternal reward. At least it saved the city of Los Angeles an extra pension.
Kip actually liked me, which Striker didn't. When he saw me he rose from his desk and put his hand out.
"Hey, Jake! How's it going?" he said, smiling.
"Peachy," I said as I shook his hand...

The reference to Harrigan's former partner Striker was covered in the last story, "Bourbon On The Rocks."

Oh, one more thing. Harrigan's new partner, Kip Wilson, has the same name as Tom Hanks' character on the old 80's TV show "Bosom Buddies." I didn't remember that until I saw an episode after I started writing this and I was too used to referring to him by that name, so I didn't change it.

Thanks Christopher. Don’t know the Bosom Buddies show, but like the sound of the bosom part!😁

Don't get too carried away. Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari got thrown out of their apartment building and the only place they could find to rent was an apartment building solely for women. So they had to dress in drag and pretend to be women in order to get into their apartment. It ran for two years in the early 80's.
