Craig was a monster. A sadistic, cold-blooded man with no conscience and no compassion. I'd known Craig since birth. I did my best to set him on the straight and narrow path but he was unredeemable. His school of terror started with torturing flies and insects, then on to small animals, but now he was doing his graduate work with humans, ladies in particular.
As the monster under his bed I did everything I could to scare him straight in his childhood but he was fearless. I failed.
The real monster was the one on top of his bed.

Monster as would be Guardian Angel. ☺ Lovely stuff.

Thanks, Jamie. I was thinking about myths like the monster under the bed as scare tactics to keep kids from going astray.

Sad but realistic story. Another reminder that the real monsters are people. This is a good drabble, Christopher.
