Breaker Breaker #2

by

Skidmark: 10-4 there, Gas Can. I don't have no one stokin' the home fires but I got a little woman I see whenever I'm in Hotlanta.

Gas Can: 10-4 there, Skidmark. What's her handle there, come on back?

Skidmark: She's a pretty little beaver named Bessie Sue. She's married, but I never let that bother me.

Gas Can: Say that name again, Skidmark, I didn't copy that.

Skidmark: Bessie Sue. Her husband's a truck driver too. I think he hauls fuel and.... Uh-oh!

Gas Can: There's only so many car lots in Atlanta, asshole! I'll find you!

As I told Neville and Drew earlier, I picked up a trucker album at a thrift store and it had CB lingo on it and it reminded me of my childhood in the 70's. My dad was a CB aficionado.

Just a bit of random silliness.

    Thanks, Drew. Much appreciated.

Was "Convoy" really a hit over there? That seemed like it would be a purely American phenomenon. That song hit number one on the country charts and the pop charts here.

February ‘76 got to #2 in the UK chart and was in the chart for 10 weeks overall (not always at #2 though). This was a fun story that had me puzzled after episode 1, but it was all revealed by the end of episode 2. My only problem with it is the main guy’s handle. Skidmark has another meaning over here, Christopher, and it’s not good!

Thanks, Neville. Yeah, it has two meanings here too but I would think to a trucker it would mean the marks left by your tires after slamming on the brakes.

But considering he was messing around with another man's wife either meaning would be appropriate.

Made me smile Neville. Well worth it! And I remember "Convoy" '76 was such a good year for so many things!

Oh GOD I did it AGAIN!!! #Facepalm! I'm so sorry. 😢 Aargh! In my defence it's not been a good week. Brain has not been happy with the storms over the UK. It's as good an excuse as any. Very sorry Christopher! Kudos to the original author, and not Neville. Who also makes me smile on occasion. 😏
