Argh, mateys! You be listening to pirate radio, argh! There be a strong gale blowing up your sea lane this evening, so be hanging on to yer booty, argh! If you be's cruising the Barbary Coast with any Christian slaves bound for the Ottoman Empire, ol' Otto will have to wait as there be a Royal Navy patrol ship hiding behind a whale at the corner of Coral and Reef. Get the Christians to say a prayer and sail by nonchalantly, argh!

Now the newest hit from Captain and the Kidds, this be called, "Don't Be Hangin' Around Execution Dock."

Sorry, folks. I heard something about a pirate radio station and this was where my warped and twisted mind went to.

I love it. Started imagining how yesteryear pirates would use modern day tech and social media.

I remember the first pirate radio in the UK way back, Radio Caroline. Those poor DJs playing the latest pop music were literally on a very small ship which pitched and tossed in the North Sea, which, although it’s not an ocean can be very rough. It was so exciting for us as all we had been allowed to listen to was what the BBC let us hear, which was mostly very, very boring! Fun drabble Christopher. It brought back memories.

Thanks, Neville. Do they still have Execution Dock on the Thames in Wapping, London, or have they put up a Starbucks in its place by now?

The site of Execution Dock in Wapping is not now clear, but I have been in a famous pub there, the Prospect of Whitby, many times. Execution Dock was apparently very near the pub and they have a noose hanging at the back as a visual reminder. It's nonetheless a very good pub. The infamous pirate Captain Kidd was hanged at the dock and his subsequently tarred body was then taken to Tilbury, in the mouth of the Thames (pronounced 'Tems') and hung there for years. Mrs H's brother pilots ships there regularly. I'll ask him if it's still there!
