I went back home for Christmas, like I do every year. And every year the place is a little more run-down, but it's always good to see the family again: Mom and Dad, my brothers and sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, all there to celebrate Christmas and have a great meal.

We sat around the table catching up, laughing, eating. It all went by too fast.
I knew it was time for me to go so I got up to leave. I walked to the door and then turned back.

"See you next year," I said to an empty table.

Wow. Thanks very much, Drew. I was thinking about people who don't have anyone to share the holidays with and that's what came out.

Sad but true for a lot of people. Christmas isn't always a fun time for everyone. You captured the moment perfectly.
