The Old Man In The Woods
Everyone feared the old man in the woods. The townspeople warned the children, "Don't play in the woods in the hills north of town. There's a crazy old man that lives in them and he eats little kids."
No one seemed to know who the old man was but a few town elders had their suspicions. They thought he was the distant offspring of an old witch that was burned at the stake long ago.
A few of the town's children came out to find the old man and discovered that the legends were true:

I'm a fan of H.P. Lovecraft. Ever once in a while I try to write a story like his. I fail miserably, but I still try.
