Fallen

"What is it?" Joseph asked, staring at the smoking hole in the ground.

"I don't know," Lance said.

It was an oval-shaped silver object that fell to the earth from the darkness of night. Lance and Joseph eagerly followed the streak in the sky to the middle of a field.

"Touch it," Joseph said, daring his friend.

"YOU touch it!" Lance replied.

The matter was settled when the object cracked open and out crawled a beast unfathomable to the human mind. It touched Joseph and Lance, immediately rendering them both to smoldering ashes.

Then it slithered toward the farmhouse...
