It began with all the excitement of the circus coming to town. The anticipation of the spectacle, the days drawing near. And we bought tickets. We soared through the air like we were shot out of a cannon. We walked tightropes like acrobats without a net. We sometimes faltered, but never fell. We took turns being the lion and the tamer.

Then the show ended. You went to another tent, another show. But, like the dancing elephants, I remember everything.

Now the tent's empty. I'm sitting in the bleachers alone, the tears of a clown running down my sad face...
