Murder Is But A Memory

by

"You always were a melodramatic son-of-a-bitch, Victor," a voice said from back amongst the crates.

We all turned to see a tall, thin man standing in the shadows. It was a very ominous sight. Sal turned with his gun, but the dark figure pulled his own pistol, shooting Sal in the middle of the chest. He was thrown back off his feet, hitting the floor amidst a swirl of uprising dust as Diana screamed. Vic looked at his henchman without much sorrow. Saved him the trouble, I suppose.

"Now, no one else make any sudden movements, please."

This is a really great treat today, Christopher. It's like I have my hand in the sweetie jar and no-one's stopping me. Great action throughout this latest clutch of episodes; you've been very busy. Thanks.....and still I'm trying to think forward... can Lanyard allow anyone to live? how can anyone take him out? is Vic a nice guy after all? will Jake take him to the money to save everyone's ass? will Diana get wiped out in the crossfire? So exciting!

Thanks so much for your support, Neville. I'm almost finished, only a handful more drabbles to go, but it would be another two or three months if I only sent out one a day like I normally was doing, so I decided to release them in clusters. But even in this eleventh hour, the story is morphing from the way I intended to end it. It definitely has taken on a life of its own; the narrative driving me rather than the other way around.
