Rocco's pistol, a Smith & Wesson .38 Special revolver with a five-inch barrel, was a six-shooter, which were five more bullets than I needed to blow Sal's pea brains out of his cranium.
I gripped the handle of the gun tightly, making my way back up to the door. I looked through the window and didn't see any sign of Sal. As I eased the door open, I could hear him running his beligerent mouth to Diana. That was good. I needed him to stay preoccupied until I was ready to send that bastard to meet his maker...

This drabble 'slow-release' mechanism is great for the reader as it forces one (or at least me!) to think forward a little at the likely events and direction the story will take. This enforced patience is therefore good for one's own creativity. (Has Jake checked Rocco's gun that there is a full clip (if that's what that gun takes) of slugs? But I guess it might make a noise to check....there I go again....wait, Neville, you'll just have to wait! )

Actually, Neville, a revolver has a cylinder that usually takes six bullets. I'm sure Jake would've checked it, but unfortunately, with only 100 words I have to economize and can't go into as much detail as I'd like. Thanks for staying with me, Neville.
Thanks, Drew! I'm sure ole Jake will take the necessary precautions. I appreciate you reading and commenting.

This short form is great for tension and you utilize it well. My mind races ahead, as well, Neville.
