Gary's dad had always wanted to go deep sea fishing in the Pacific Ocean with his son. Actually, he didn't necessarily want to fish, just take a boat out in the middle of the deep blue sea.
Time went by, and Gary grew up, with his own family and responsibilities. But one day, he decided to book the trip. He and his dad journeyed across the country and took a boat out into the middle of the Pacific.
"Well, Dad, we finally made it, didn't we?"
Gary thought he heard laughter as he scattered his dad's ashes in the sea.

Oohh that was a crushing twist, so well designed.
Yes even I wish I had done more with my Dad before he passed on. It in some ways it's a perpetual question of every generation. Great work making a point.
