According to the U.S. Census in 1950 the median gross rent in Nevada was $287.00, which seems high for the time. I lowered it to $258.00, which still seems high.

Thank you, Neville. I've tried to be as accurate as possible with this drabble series and have done a lot of research, reading up on the politics and economics of the time as well as looking at maps of L.A. and Las Vegas in the early 50s, only taking artistic license when necessary.
