An idea considered, an image envisioned—enthusiastically so. An exciting concept placed before testing conjectures: It’s bent, squashed, stretched, made hot, hotter, and all degrees of cold. It’s inverted, re-coloured, bleached, rinsed, checked against history and what's not yet here. Every trial it passes. Goosebumps—a minuscule mushroom cascade. Tingles prickle the neck, back, and forearms—widening their owner's eyes. World changing enormities are envisioned.
But what’s this? Each nervous goosebump sprouts a hair. As one they form a mane. Fibres taut in dermis, every black filament a sentry.
A worry-wolf of self-doubt manifests, turns... and tears itself to shreds.
