Seven years ago,
I failed to achieve my goal.
A Levels burning by the wayside,
My hopes down the hole.

Seven years ago,
I sat by the tumbling sea,
Gazing out at pale bladed giants,
Wondering what would happen to me.

Seven years ago,
I earned my first slip,
Earnest solid employment,
Would get me through my blip.

Seven years ago,
I found my first love,
A short passion-filled blur,
Now flown away like a dove.

Seven years ago,
Alas the summer work came to an end,
I returned home defeated,
To allow my wounds to mend.

Now what?
