Newport Extra Mural Cemetary and Crematorium

The Ghosts of Generation X #3

The spirit of a woman in a dressing gown is often seen at the doorway of the crematorium. It is believed she died getting a crust from the toaster with a fork. She has returned to the chapel, as it was here, aged 19 and going through a bit of a goth phase, she had come to her grandfather's funeral. Her make up and outfit suddenly seemed entirely innappropriate and she refused to go into the service. Afterwards she rowed with her mum but it was the look of pity on her grandmother's face that prompted a lifetime of regret.

Avon District Community Centre

The Ghosts of Generation X #2

The Avon District Community Centre is said to be haunted by the ghost of a middle aged cyclist who suffered an aneurysm while completing a charity bike ride. The sound of his cycling shoes is often heard during the over 60’s yoga class. It is said that this is the site where, during a older cousins disco birthday party, he entertained a crowd of cheering and laughing older kids with an improvised body popping routine. In later years he came to realise that they cheered in mockery rather than admiration, the earlier humiliation now compounded by his present undignified attire.

The Ghosts of Generation X #1

The ghost of a 48 year old man, killed by a hit and run deliveroo driver, haunts St Lukes Primary school playground. He is often seen at dusk, wandering back and forth with his eyes cast downwards. It is said that he is searching for the lightsaber that once belonged to a Luke Skywalker figure he received as a Christmas present in 1982. Despite being told to leave it at home, he sneaked it into the pocket of his parka to play with at lunch time, a decision that led to a lifetime of regret when the accessory was lost.
