Love Letter

Tears in her eyes. She stood kneeling in the moonlight. Centre of the grass field. Her little boy stood trembling in front of her, dark eyes reflecting light like shimmering water.

Felt her heart breaking. Sick nauseous in the pit of her stomach.

It'd been just night. One unintentional night.
He'd been so handsome she couldn't resist.
She couldn't call it a mistake. Just six years ago...

"Mommy," he pleaded with her in innocent wavering voice.
Tears streaming down his cheeks, "Don't go!"

She looked at him, then back at her awaiting Starship.
She grasped his hand. And they ran!
