Eyam#4

Two hundred and sixty people are known to have died of the Plague in the village of Eyam. It is thought that the disease had spread via a box of cloth from London delivered to George Viccars, a tailor in the village.
Over the last four months the villagers have quarantined themselves on the advice of Reverend Mompesson. This was to prevent the plague passing to other settlements.
Food was brought to them from nearby villages and payment made by leaving money in the river.
Fortunately their unselfish actions have prevented the epidemic from spreading.

This is a great sacrifice.
