''Ah, the lockdown is finished,'' June sighed contently. ''Shops, here I come.''

''You'll still have to queue and keep social distancing,'' Irene answered. ''I'm doing my hair tomorrow. All booked. Agatha, what 'bout you, darling?''

''Oh, you know, working out, here,'' Agatha said vaguely.

Monday morning, 15th/06/2020

At the door, June and Irene were stopped by a Dwayne Johnson lookalike, clad in impossibly tight biking shorts, looking for a lady named Agatha.

It was June and Irene's turn to stare ahead, speechless, a disbelieving look on their faces.

June was still mad at Georges. She just saw him pushing his walker, his new paramour by his side.

Alright, the tart was better than her at Scrabble! But she stank like an old trout.

''I'm going out to buy meself a new perfume,' she announced to Agatha.

'You can't go, we are in lockdown, remember?'' Agatha warned.

''I don't care, I want this new perfume everyone has been talking about lately.''

''I'm telling you, you can't, but what's the name, I'll order it online for you.''

''Coveed-Nineteen.''

Agatha simply stared ahead, speechless, a disbelieving look on her face.

Cupcakes Retirement Home is not your conventional residential home.

The owner, the charming Lady Arabella, reminiscent of Sybil Fawlty (for the youngsters among you, google the name) runs it with love and often, like a headmistress.

Unfortunately, not many men lodge at Cupcakes Retirement Home. My guess is that the name plays a large role in that. Originally, it was called Fairy Cakes Retirement Home but Lady Arabella changed it, thinking it wasn't appropriate. You know, equal opportunity and all that.

Lady Arabella smiled fondly. One hundred and twenty mature ladies and twenty five men.Today, she could feel trouble brewing.

Agatha sighed with exasperation. Irene was getting on her nerves, gleefully gossiping about their friend who was upset.
June's 91 year old boyfriend had dumped her for a younger woman of 72.

-The old fool, serves her right. Acting like a teenager! She couldn't see he is a player?
-Irene! Stop! She is upset enough as it is. Try putting yourself in her shoes before criticising.

Next morning, Irene met Agatha at breakfast. She whispered in a conspiratorial tone:
-I tried June's shoes last night but they didn't fit...
