A bad week : Thank God It's Friday

A bad Week #5

Here I am, crying my eyes out in my advisor's office. It was really an unfortunate series of events.
He's a nice guy. He hands me the box of tissues, telling me he'll sort out something.
And he did!
On Monday, I'm starting a new job. At the job center.
Oh, I nearly forgot. I also got a new boyfriend in the process. Yes, my nice advisor. He's taking me out tonight.
It was not such a bad week after all.
Except for Grandma and Grandpa. Of course.
I wonder if I can use that particular scenario in the future.

A bad week: Thursday morning is my downfall

A Bad Week #4

I ignore the incessant ring of my phone. Grandma died yesterday, it cannot get worse. And I have to get to work.
Other passengers look at me with anger.
With a sigh, I press 'Answer'. It's Grandpa, telling me he is at the police station, arrested for Grandma's murder. It was an accident, he says. Can I come?

Automatically, I dial the office. As soon as I say Hello, the HR woman goes ballistic. Like a Banshee, she wails she never want to hear from me again, she'll report me and I don't need to bother about tomorrow.
Oh well!

A bad week: Wednesday morning - my unlucky day

A Bad Week #3

Today, I'm determined to make it into work. If I don't go, I'll be in big trouble. Also, I need the money.
I hop onto the bus, find a seat by the window and watch the streets pass by, a little proud to be in the workforce, after all.
My mobile rings. A call from Grandpa. I listen to his frantic voice, Grandma has been taken very ill into hospital. She is dying. Can I make it there?
With a sinking feeling, I call the office. That HR woman is a bitch really, but never mind, I'll be there tomorrow.

A bad week: Tuesday morning - It's not my day

A Bad Week #2

Yesterday, I was supposed to start a new job in a new office. Well, you understand, I have not worked for a very long time, so, it was hard to get up. I ended no going. It's not that I don't want to work, really, it's just, well, you know, I was fine doing nothing. But the job center got on my case!
This morning, I got up in time. So, here I am at the train station, but it's not my day today. There is a train strike.
I call the office. The HR secretary didn't seem too happy.

A bad week: Monday morning - Playing truant.

A Bad Week #1

6 am. Alarm clock goes off. I hit the snooze button. Pull the covers over my head. Just another 15 minutes, it's all what I need.
6.15 am. I hit again the snooze button. Just another 15 minutes, I swear.
6.30 am. Damn alarm clock. Snooze off.
7.00 am. Panic. I hunt for some clean clothes. No time for coffee.
Pick up purse. Then I see it peeping through the curtains. A glorious end of February sunshine.
With my best imitation of a dying person, I call the office.
And I head up for the corner cafe, book in hand.
