A distant orange burn began it as we walked over white frosted grass.
We had just seven hours,
forty nine minutes
before we lit candles. A fire.
A single day and night.
Together.
Stretching out long as our shadows
across the park’s pay and display.

The two of us.

Ahead. Snatched seconds.
Covered with winter’s blanket
She’d will us to slumber.
But we wouldn’t.
We couldn’t, could we?
Urges, like the sap rise of Spring within us.
Needing to be sated.

But now. Tentative fingers searching.
Touching.
That soft creep spine chill of delight.
Knowing you’d be mine all night.

This is a lovely and evocative drabble for the solstice. I'll need to think about it a bit before I understand it fully, but hey, there's plenty of affective quotient in it; I just need to work on the cognitive side! Good writing makes you feel and think. I'm thinking. :-)

    Thank you both XX

Nev- first time lovers spending a day and night together. Everything I've written lately seems to be about an affair. Newly single- think head processing things X

Jeff- Ha! I really don't think I am. Unless am mellowing in my old age X
