I can feel summer already starting to play its little game with me, as if I am just a character dancing upon its stage, as I try to enjoy being outdoors amongst birds and flowers, twisting my stomach into knots, stealing my sleep, devouring my concentration, draining my energy, making my head ache,
and it won't be long before it burns my skin, laughing as the lingering pain sears despite all the suncream and layers of protection, and it won't be long before I wish it was over, before I start longing; and dreaming of the kinder, cooler, friendlier Autumn.

Summer doesn't have the same effect on me as it did when I was a kid and that was your only parole from the prison of school. It's not enjoyable anymore. I live in the deep south of the USA, where the humidity is so thick you could float a boat on it.

I've never really been a fan of summer and got to me the other day. I either boil or burn. Summer grew on me last year in Scotland where it wasn't so bad and had lots of rhododendrons but that was the closest I've ever been to liking summer. I prefer autumn have always liked rain.
