I know some people would say that to get a cane is to admit defeat. That they don't want one, don't want to be seen as vulnerable, as different, as struggling. And I'll admit, even I had my reservations. But this one is small, and lights up in the dark. And I would rather have it, than smash my head into another tree. Everyone knows at wind band anyway. Perhaps it will help them support me. And in the winter, it will be handy for going out. Perhaps, with it by my side, the night blindness won't be so scary.

Sounds like a good idea. Don't worry about what it looks like to other people. You need to look out for yourself, and a lighted cane sounds helpful.
