It shuddered to life. The heart beat under his fingers. It breathed. Wings drummed against the mould, trying to break free. In the centre of its chest, a ball of rainbow coloured light shinmered, so bright and beautiful it almost blinded him. A pair of bulbous eyes opened, a deep shade of indigo. Curious, they stared at him; unsure, afraid, uncertain. It pleaded, to be set free.
What had he done? His master would be furious. They weren't meant to be alive.

I can see it looking up at him. For me this works well as a moment captured, without having to begin a longer story (Unless counting the readers' speculation which can be part of the fun with flash fiction , and the strange dreams it might give me tonight. ;-)
