I've always wanted a garden. It doesn't have to be big. A few trees. A pond. A place to grow berries. And of course, some flowers.
I would have sunshine roses and golden daffodils. Orange geraniums and saffron orchids. Scarlet dahlias and crimson chrysanthemums. Lime green carnations and electric green gladioli. Sapphire delphiniums and cerulean hyacinths. Periwinkle osteospermums and amethyst lupins. Coral rhododendrons and salmon petunias. Crystal white cow parsley and ivory snowdrops. And a sea of tulips, glimmering in every shade of the rainbow.
I would fill my garden with colour, with no room for the weeds of depression.

And when your garden has grown, Sarah, maybe you can photograph it and make it your profile shot. Then we can all enjoy your lovely kaleidoscope of colours too...

Very descriptive. I've never even heard of some of those flowers! I love the garden-as-metaphor nature of the drabble too, which you don't really comprehend until the final line.

I agree with Christopher’s comment about the garden metaphor.

Thank you for your kind comments. My mum has got into gardening and every Friday we end up in a cafe and a garden centre so have learnt lots about different flowers that I'd never heard of before either has been lovely
