Dangerous Games

Every night I watch. I’m not saying I see everything, but it’s close.
The drunken mistakes, the desperate phone calls, the things done when no one is watching. It seems like I’m in my own world, yet I find the smallest details. The cigarette lit on the back porch, the love being made in the dark back seat.
I hear the screams, the sighs, the moans. I see the blood on the side of the road, the trips to the bathroom where yesterday’s lunch is emptied.
I can’t change what happens, I only watch.
No matter how terrible it gets.
