Smoking had been prohibited. Related illnesses were allowed to progress to their terminal conclusion. People died screaming.
It still didn’t work. The response was the ‘1 in 20’ law.
The guilty were given a choice. From a pack of 20 cigarettes, they had to choose one and smoke it.
The pack included one filter tip laced with a lethal dose of potassium cyanide.
In trepidation, Paul sucked.
