Suzie waited until mama was asleep. Then she took mama's keys, grabbed a torch and headed outside.

To the outhouse.

Suzie had promised mama she would never go there. A pinkie promise. She’d just have a peek, and mama needn’t know.

Suzie turned the key and went in.

A figure huddled there. Its skin was like blackened leather. A spider crawled out of an eye socket and the mouth hung open in mock surprise. Despite the bashed in skull, it looked vaguely familiar.

Suzie's scream sounded tinny in the small room.

Mama was there now.

‘I see you’ve found daddy.’
