We weren’t meant to look when the priest opened the tabernacle because that’s where God was supposed to live, but I did. I saw squat. Less than squat.
That’s when I decided.
At communion I took the wafer in my mouth and kept it there. I had other plans.
I wanted to see it become the Body of Christ.
So there we stood in the playground, waiting for the change to happen.
A kid knocked me and the wafer skipped out of my hand.
A crow swooped down and plucked it up.
I swear it was raw, moist and dripping….
