Jeanne stared, unblinking at the nothingness. Space was a lot like she'd imagined; cold, bleak and empty. Jeanne didn't mind the cold, she could even live with bleak, after all those grey lifeless days in Alaska. It was the enormity that shocked her. She'd never considered the meaning of infinity until now.

The SS Venture had been Jeanne's home for 6 months. It was terrifying at first, but the alternative was worse. Staying meant pestilence, it meant death.

She pressed her nose against the window and let her warm breath haze the view. Perhaps she would miss fog after all.

Thanks Drew, it came to me about halfway through and I realised it should definitely be the ending - I usually start with an ending and work towards it but this time I had a start and a vast idea to explore. A bit like space exploration itself lol.
