Joshua was frightened. There was much to be frightened of, but he had his crucifix and his bible. They would save him from The Beast. Joshua’s priest had told him so.
The beast had appeared seven nights ago, claiming a victim each night. They say it had a human’s face. “Abomination” they called it, “Unholy”. The people turned to their churches for safety. Attendance had quadrupled after three days.
Joshua stood before The Beast, holding up his cross, hands shaking. The Beast sniggered. “You think your gods will save you? They are the ones who made me.”
The Beast lunged.
