The kids came over today. The High Street was closed so the village could hold street parties celebrating yesterday’s Coronation. No cars on the High Street meant they’d be free to whiz up and down the road on their scooters. And they did.
“Shall I get MY scooter so we can have races?” I asked.
“You haven’t got a scooter, Baba!” said Harry, 7.
“Baba haven’t got a scooter!” echoed little Lily, 3.
“Oh - yes - I - have!” I insisted. And so I did!
All afternoon we raced up and down the empty High Street. I was soundly beaten every time!

Thanks Verity. Racing them on my scooter all afternoon, all along my village high street, where dozens of people were celebrating His Maj’s Coronation... or as I call it his Chazzanation... certainly sent my street-cred soaring today!... and with my grandchildren!
