Today I decided to sample a bottle of beer I’d never tried before. I was attracted by the name and the label. Something different maybe?

Called ‘Bishops Farewell’, this golden ale’s label featured a bishop’s mitre in red and purple. Unusual!

The blurb read ‘First brewed in 1996 in honour of William John “Bishop Bill” Westwood on his retirement as Bishop of Peterborough.’

But hang on... Bill Westwood?... Bishop Bill?... I remember Bill (His Grace)... he was a good friend of my late father! A good man and a good beer. And most eminently good enough for me!

Cheers Bill!

I liked this, made me smile. Bishop Bill sounds like a fun guy.
