On holiday we must pay our ‘harbour dues’. It’s a very busy harbour and I never resent paying because it funds a team of experienced people supporting the harbourmaster. Eyes and ears that might one day help me and my boat out of trouble.
This year, reporting to pay my dues, the harbour representative took my little boat’s details.
”Name of craft?”
“Jetski Droogie” I replied.
”So it’s a jet ski then... not the inflatable you had last year?”
“The same inflatable! Not a jet ski!”
”But you said jet ski!”
“It’s a kind of joke!”
(Not his kind though)

Is your new profile pic the infamous Jetski Droogie?

Sorry, I read these backwards. I see on the previous drabble you explained about the picture.

Yep, that’s her. A guy who fixes inflatable lifeboats for the truly magnificent RNLI fixed the huge gash in the far side (port) tank, and he made a fabulous job of it.
I may have told the Jetski Droogie sinking saga already in drabbles, but it’s a dramatic story of misplaced trust, of lack of experience, of spinelessness ,read on.

...a dramatic story of a huge tide such as we get over here, a spot of bad luck, a stroke of seemingly (and certainly short-lived) good luck, a tow from another boat, a misjudgement regarding a sharp propellor protruding from a moored boat, the slicing, the sinking, the rapid release of tow rope, speeding off, abandonment of my family, possibly to drown and real help from another kind soul to tow the stricken boat to land and provide safety for my family. And then the unbelievable cellphone call to me, attending a most interesting funeral elsewhere. Sound familiar?

Wow! Droogie's memoirs would be an impressive read. It's had a more exciting life than I've had!

I’m on the case... probably after I’ve finished the royal account.

PS... if you look hard enough into the profile pic you can see me swimming in the water... the sea’s been rather warm (well, not too cold) this year.

I zoomed in and I think I've spotted you.

I thought Mrs H might have been photographing me, but now I see the picture, and the relative insignificance of yours truly, I realise that Jetski was the hero that had caught her eye! But then she does rather like boats...
