Bex and family joined us on the beach today. It was sunny and beautiful as it is every year. I cracked open some wine and offered everyone mini Bakewell Tarts from the village bakery. Salcombe is nowhere near Bakewell, but they still tasted wonderful!
“Ah,” said Bex, “my grandfather had the recipe for Bakewell Tarts.”
“Really?” I asked, delighted to think that Bex might provide the authentic recipe.
“But he sold the recipe for a lifetime’s supply of whisky!”
“Without passing it on to anyone in the family?”
“Yep, he preferred his whisky to his family!”
”Well!........... without the Bake!”

Sounds like a pretty good deal ;-)

Yes Jamie when you consider it. Even if the family resented him, he could always drown his sorrows (although it sounds like he didn’t have many of those!)
