When the late Steve McBrevity, my best mate, lived close by we would race to our local pub at 10:20pm for 10 minutes plus 10 minutes ‘drinking up time’ (when pubs had to stop serving at 10:30pm). Just enough time for a couple of pints!

Having given her blessing, on my return, Mrs H occasionally asked how much we drank.

“I had one and a half pints and Steve had two and a half.” was my regular reply.

“Why not two each?”

“Steve drinks faster than me... we shared my second pint!”

...Generous? Maybe, but ensured her blessing next time!

Thanks Verity. And it was true... I didn’t have Steve’s capacity!

Steve McBrevity remains one of the most productive drabblers on Drablr. His work is worth reading. I still plan to publish it all as a volume for his family... but even in lockdown I’ve been very busy. I’ll finish it very soon! I’m one third of the way through now though.... (“come on Neville... move your Harris!”)

This drabble wonderfully conveys the joy of that 'Swift half (Or one or two and a half as the case may be.)

Thanks Jamie. They were definitely swift, but truly memorable and delicious... usually Greene King IPA (other beers were and are available!)
