Today was boys’ day out. To Poole Harbour, apparently the second largest natural harbour in the world, after Sydney. We were off for a first spin in Tom’s new speedboat. Tom, me and a couple of ten year olds.
The water in the harbour was lumpy. ‘White horses’ everywhere. The expert from the supplier drove us out into mid-harbour. He ‘opened it up’, scaring the hell out of two young boys and this old boy! Then Tom took over the wheel.
He gripped the steering wheel, but not as hard as I gripped the handrail! With good reason too!

Posted twice somehow, but as yet I’ve not been able to delete one of them. Frustrating! Will have to try a different device.

Thanks Verity, it was a real white-knuckle ride. Even my son Tom, who powered us round the harbour, thought it was pretty ‘hairy’! The sales guy said that the faster one goes, the more comfortable it is for the passengers! Hmmm! Really??? And how often are you sitting aft with the grockels like me and the young-uns, mister?

Now that's scary! but I'm glad you'll managed well and fine

Thanks Verity. I now need to encourage my son to take all the relevant seamanship, navigation and powerboat courses before he starts powering round the English coastline!
