Had a dream the other night. I had two grumpy parrots who always argued with each other!

”Rugby club, rugby club!” they squawked at each other, with a touch of menace!

Hardly a persuasive argument, I thought!

But what they said took me back to the days of my village rugby club. Membership was limited to just 14 (so we never had to play). ‘Training sessions’ in the White Horse eventually ended, as strong right-armed ‘players’ drifted away.

Did the wretched parrots want it reformed?

With only two members left, I kicked that idea into touch!

“Nice try boys!”

A rugby team has 15 members. Our rugby club was limited to 14, so we would NEVER be able to field a full team... so we would never have to play a game. We never did! The White Horse was the village pub where the training sessions took place. Training involved lifting exercises... from bartop to mouth, ale in pints... With 14 club/team members in a small bar, it was a real scrum! (another rugby term!)

FYI... in case rugby rules/terms unknown tomyou‘Try’ = running or kicking ball across the opponents goal line and touching it down before anyone from the other team. Kicking into touch (a figure of speech here) = kicking the rugby ball out of play to either sideline of the pitch.

Thanks Frenchie. My wife is getting much better now, although the strong antibiotics are making her extremely tired. On the other hand, I took her to the hairdressers yesterday for a whole 2-hour appointment - the full works! And she seemed much brighter when I collected her again. She looked lovely, of course, but tbh, not so different than before... just like her picture... but she felt good and that’s all that matters! And she’s started humming again... so normality has almost been restored! (...and she’s now complaining about how messy I’ve left the house!)
